CambridgeDocs Announces Out-of-the-Box Support for ACORD XML Standards

Upcoming release of Word FO Designer and xDoc will transform ACORD XML into PDF format and extract ACORD XML from existing content

BOSTON, MA -- October 16, 2006 - As part of its ongoing commitment to open standards, CambridgeDocs (www.cambridgedocs.com), the leading provider of document repurposing solutions, today announced out-of-the-box support for ACORD XML standards throughout its product line. This new feature will provide the insurance industry a much needed and easy way to generate custom forms compatible with the ACORD XML standard, and to also extract ACORD XML from existing sources of content.

Beginning in 2007, CambridgeDocs will include samples of its ACORD publishing feature with each product it ships. Insurance companies using CambridgeDoc solutions will be able to experience just how quickly they are able to build and integrate document-generation and document-extraction functionality into their insurance-related applications.

“XML is becoming increasingly important to the insurance industry. Our tool will allow insurance companies to build highly scaleable, cross-platform applications that use XML and the ACORD standard for document generation, publishing, and as input” said Rizwan Virk, CEO of CambridgeDocs. “Our tools already support PDF and Microsoft Word formats for document assembly and generation applications, and extending these to include the ACORD standard is a natural evolution.”

"We believe the Word FO Designer provides an effective way to map XML data to Microsoft Word document templates, that creates an efficient capability in our application to provide for automatic server-based generation of documents in the Health Care/Insurance space," said Loan Kenney, Senior Associate of Technology with Sapient Canada.

CambridgeDocs products that will provide the ACORD XML support will include:

• Word FO Designer - This tool will support visual layout for creating ACORD forms. It will include samples that demonstrate how to render ACORD XML as both standard ACORD forms and vendor-specific forms. The samples will help customers quickly create visually sophisticated output without the need to write large amounts of XSLT code.
• xDoc – Both xDoc Server and xDoc Converter Desktop will enable extracting XML data from existing forms in PDF format. They will include samples that demonstrate how to produce the ACORD XML standards from the PDF files.

The ACORD XML samples will ship in Q4 of 2006 and Q1 of 2007. Please contact info@docscience.com for more information.
